Road to Heaven
Which road leads to Heaven? What happens after I die? Will I go to Hell, or will I go to Heaven? Where will I spend eternity? The Bible's answer to these questions is simple and clear.
First: Realize You Are a Sinner
The Bible says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) The glory of God is Heaven, and we come short of making it there because we sin. "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." (Romans 3:10) No matter where we are physically, we start at the same place spiritually, all of us are sinners.
Second: Realize There Is a Penalty for Your Sin
Before we can be declared innocent by God, we must admit we are guilty. Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death..." This death is referring to eternal separation from God in Hell. Revelation 20:14 describes it further, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." If we would receive the wages (payment) for our sin, we would deserve to die and spend eternity in Hell! The good news is that Someone else took the punishment of Hell in our place.
Third: Realize Jesus Paid the Penalty for Your Sin
Jesus paid for our sin by His death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:23 says, "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Notice eternal life is a gift. God's way is easy, simple, and free.
Last: Repent of Your Sin and Receive Jesus as Your Saviour
As with any other gift, the gift of salvation must be received. John 1:12 says, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" This eternal life may be received simply by asking God for it.
Romans 10:13 states, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." What are we saved from? We are saved from the penalty of sin - Hell. Once you see yourself as a sinner, guilty before God, then you can ask God for His forgiveness and place your trust in Jesus Christ for the saving of your soul. By faith, ask Jesus to save you by praying from your heart.
